The "Win the Battle Against Biolfilm: Leverage the Power of Ultrasonics" course is based on current scientific literature and evidence based strategies to give the clinician practical guidelines regarding the use of ultrasonic, instrumentation for nonsurgincal periodontal therapy. Ultrasonic instrumentation techniques will be covered extensively following the dental hygiene process of care and utilizing hands-on activities. Patient cases demonstrating successful treatment with ultrasonic instrumentation will be shared. Oral Surgery and Anesthesia ReviewThis program includes updates on local anesthesia and vasoconstrictors, complications of local anesthesia, reversal and anxiolysis. The physiology of regional anesthesia and the pharmacology of local anesthetic agents will be discussed along with the role of vasoconstrictors, their limitations, interactions, complications, and dosing. Approaches used to reduce anxiety in dental patients will also be reviewed. The program is also an introduction to dentoalveolar surgery and includes risk assessment, office preparation, patient selection, exodontia techniques and principals, step by step descriptions of selected dentoalveolar surgery procedures and the diagnosis and management of oral surgery complications. The “Oral Care and the Geriatric Patient: An Emerging Reality” course will discuss the common chronic disease states affecting the geriatric population and demonstrate a familiarity with the numerous medications used in the management of these chronic diseases and the side effects that invariably ensue, as well as the pharmacokinetics unique to this specific age group.

Sealant Placement Made Easy!(Lecture and Hands-on Course)This lecture and hands-on course will guide participants through the simple techniques of sealant placement. Participants will be able to review the basic concepts of the clinical procedure and its role in preventive dentistry. Various isolation recommendations will be provided so as to ensure proper sealant placement technique and retention. The course will also include a discussion on indications and contraindications for sealant placement in addition to, differential application methods for various sealant brands. CPR for Healthcare ProvidersGain the knowledge and hands-on experience to administer CPR effectively and safely. How to manage a foreign body airway obstruction in a responsive & in an unresponsive victim, plus how to use an (AED) automated external defibrillator.
